Uzbekistan and Hungary Elevate Bilateral Ties with Enhanced Strategic Partnership Declaration

Budapest, May 21, 2025 – The Europe Today: In a significant step toward strengthening bilateral relations, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, signed a Joint Declaration on the establishment of an enhanced strategic partnership following high-level talks held in Budapest.

The agreement marks a new phase of comprehensive cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary, reflecting shared interests and a commitment to deepening ties across political, economic, and cultural dimensions.

In the presence of both leaders, a series of intergovernmental and interagency documents were also exchanged. These include an Extradition Treaty and a Cooperation Agreement on Climate Change, underscoring mutual efforts to promote legal cooperation and address global environmental challenges.

Additionally, agreements were concluded on interagency cooperation in the management of natural disasters, collaboration in science and innovation, and the peaceful use of nuclear energy. These documents aim to enhance institutional partnerships and pave the way for long-term joint initiatives in critical areas of mutual benefit.

The leaders reiterated their shared vision for fostering regional stability, advancing sustainable development, and expanding practical cooperation in priority sectors. The visit and the resulting agreements reflect the growing strategic dialogue between Uzbekistan and Hungary and demonstrate both nations’ commitment to building a resilient and forward-looking partnership.
