Turkmenistan Participates in Inaugural Meeting of the Termez Dialogue

Termez, May 22, 2025 – The Europe Today: From May 19 to 21, the city of Termez hosted the inaugural meeting of the Termez Dialogue on the Interconnection between Central and South Asia, under the theme “Building a Common Space of Peace, Friendship and Prosperity.”

The high-level forum gathered foreign ministers, senior officials, and policy experts from across Central and South Asia, alongside representatives of international and regional organizations, financial institutions, and research centers. The event served as a platform to discuss interregional cooperation prospects, emphasizing security, stability, sustainable development, and the role of private sector and financial institutions in supporting economic growth.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported that the country was represented by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ahmet Gurbanov, who outlined Turkmenistan’s strategic vision for enhanced collaboration in the transport and logistics, energy, economic, and humanitarian sectors.

In his remarks, Gurbanov also highlighted Turkmenistan’s initiative at the United Nations General Assembly that led to the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, underscoring the country’s ongoing commitment to global peace and sustainable development.

Participants at the forum affirmed that the Termez Dialogue marks an important step toward advancing interregional connectivity and fostering lasting peace, security, and prosperity across the Eurasian continent. The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthening multilateral ties and building an inclusive framework for regional cooperation.
