Uzbekistan Showcases Family Support Initiatives at International Forum in Türkiye

Ankara, May 24, 2025 – The Europe Today: Türkiye is currently hosting the prestigious international forum “Our Family – Our Future” in recognition of the International Day of Families, bringing together delegates from around the world to discuss the importance of the family as the cornerstone of society.

The forum serves as a platform for in-depth discussions on strengthening the institution of the family, promoting love and respect for family among younger generations, and highlighting the family’s vital role in societal development. The event underscores the global commitment to advancing family-oriented policies and practices in an era of rapid social transformation.

Among the notable international participants is Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Chairperson of the Committee on Family and Women, Zulaykho Mahkamova. In her address, Mahkamova presented a comprehensive overview of Uzbekistan’s state policy regarding family affairs, affirming that the family institution remains one of the country’s top national priorities.

She emphasized that Uzbekistan, in its drive to build a just, open, and humane society, has accorded unprecedented attention to family issues. The country’s newly adopted development strategy recognizes the family as a key social unit responsible for instilling humanity, ethical values, and positive cultural traditions in individuals.

The Deputy Prime Minister underlined that these priorities are not merely aspirational but are being translated into tangible outcomes. Citing findings from the World Bank, she noted that Uzbekistan ranks among the top five countries globally that have made the most significant strides in promoting gender equality.

Her report further outlined several priority areas essential for strengthening the family institution, including:

  • Supporting family education and moral upbringing,
  • Enhancing legal and social protections for women and children,
  • Fostering youth engagement in family and community life,
  • Promoting a culture of respect, responsibility, and mutual support within families.

Mahkamova also highlighted the growing bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Türkiye, especially in the fields of lifestyle and family values. She expressed confidence that continued collaboration would yield productive and mutually beneficial outcomes in preserving and promoting strong family institutions in both nations.

The “Our Family – Our Future” forum represents a meaningful step toward international dialogue on family policy and reflects Türkiye’s and its partners’ shared commitment to strengthening family structures as a foundation for social harmony and sustainable development.
