Baku, May 26, 2025 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov held a meeting on Saturday with Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha, who led a high-level delegation to Baku. The talks focused on deepening the strategic partnership between the two countries across a wide spectrum of sectors, including politics, economics, energy, transportation, and humanitarian cooperation.
During the meeting, Minister Bayramov underscored the historic mutual support between Azerbaijan and Ukraine for each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He stressed the significance of enhancing bilateral relations grounded in the principles of international law, particularly respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the inviolability of borders.
Both sides emphasized the potential to expand economic ties, with particular reference to the work of the Government Commission on Economic Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Ukraine as a key mechanism for fostering deeper collaboration.
Regional and international security issues were also discussed, with the two ministers exchanging views on matters of mutual interest. Minister Bayramov briefed his counterpart on Azerbaijan’s post-conflict reconstruction and development efforts in the liberated territories, and the current status of normalization talks with Armenia. He noted the challenges posed by Armenia to the peace process.
Foreign Minister Sybiha expressed appreciation for Azerbaijan’s humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, including contributions to post-conflict recovery, reconstruction, and demining operations in affected areas. He also extended congratulations to the Azerbaijani people ahead of the country’s Independence Day on May 28.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to continued cooperation and dialogue on issues of shared concern.
