Kazakhstan Appoints New Minister of Defense

Astana, June 8, 2025 — The Europe Today: According to an official presidential decree, Ruslan Zhaksylykov has been relieved of his duties as the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In a separate decree, Dauren Kossanov has been appointed as the new Minister of Defense.

Prior to this appointment, Kossanov served as the Deputy Minister and Commander-in-Chief of the Air Defence Forces of the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan. His promotion comes at a time when the country is continuing its efforts to modernize its military capabilities and strengthen national defense.
