Serdar Berdimuhamedov Launches Turkmenistan’s 2025 Grain Harvest

Ak Bugday, June 12, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov officially launched the country’s grain harvest during a working visit to the Ak Bugday district of Ahal velayat, state media reported.

During the visit to the Magtymguly farmers’ association, the head of state was warmly welcomed by agricultural officials and local farmers. Responding to a request from a land tenant, President Berdimuhamedov ceremonially cut a bundle of ripe wheat, marking the formal commencement of the nationwide harvest season.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Annamammet Atahallyev reported to the President on the current status and logistical measures being implemented to ensure the smooth and timely harvesting of grain across the country. Emphasizing the importance of following agronomic practices, President Berdimuhamedov underscored the need for well-coordinated efforts to avoid crop losses and maintain harvest efficiency.

The President also visited an exhibition displaying a variety of agricultural products, including fresh vegetables, baked goods, and newly acquired farming machinery, demonstrating the sector’s growing modernization.

In a personal exchange, President Berdimuhamedov spoke with local tenant farmer Akmyradov, who shared his family’s long-standing commitment to agriculture. According to Akmyradov, this year the family cultivated wheat on 42 hectares and cotton on 20 hectares of their total 62-hectare lease. They expect to yield approximately 4 metric tons of wheat per hectare.

Concluding the visit, President Berdimuhamedov presented the farmer with commemorative gifts, highlighting the national significance of the grain harvest and acknowledging the contributions of dedicated agricultural workers to Turkmenistan’s food security and rural development.
