Moscow, June 13, 2025 – The Europe Today: Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov held a phone conversation on Wednesday to discuss a range of bilateral issues, including upcoming high-level visits and efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, according to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The discussion included preparations for upcoming meetings on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), as both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening engagement across political, economic, and regional platforms.
Minister Meredov also took the opportunity to extend warm congratulations to Minister Lavrov and the Russian people on the occasion of Russia Day, celebrated annually on June 12 to mark the country’s national sovereignty.
In a notable development, the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed that Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will pay an official visit to Turkmenistan at the end of June, further highlighting the momentum in Russia–Turkmenistan relations.
The two sides underscored their shared interest in further advancing bilateral dialogue, particularly in areas such as trade, energy, transport, and cultural exchange. Both ministers agreed to maintain close coordination in the lead-up to forthcoming diplomatic engagements and regional forums.
