Iran Launches New Wave of Retaliatory Strikes on Israel Under “Operation True Promise 3”

Tehran, June 15, 2025 – The Europe Today: Iran’s Armed Forces, led by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), have launched a fresh round of punitive strikes against targets inside Israel in what officials described as a continuation of their retaliatory campaign. The latest wave, dubbed “Operation True Promise 3,” began late Saturday night local time.

In an official statement, the IRGC confirmed that missiles and drones were launched at strategic Israeli sites, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing confrontation between the two countries. The strikes triggered air raid sirens across the occupied territories, prompting Israeli authorities to urge residents to take shelter.

Footage circulating on social media — much of it captured by civilians — showed bright missile trails lighting up the skies over Haifa and Tel Aviv, followed by powerful explosions. Audio captured in the videos reveals widespread panic among residents as the Iranian projectiles struck.

Reports indicate that Haifa’s oil refinery was among the primary targets, suffering direct hits. This followed earlier Israeli strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure on Saturday.

Approximately two hours after the initial assault, the IRGC issued a second press release confirming that fuel production facilities for Israeli fighter jets and additional energy infrastructure had been successfully struck.

Previous Iranian attacks had already inflicted substantial damage on Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, part of an escalating retaliatory cycle following ongoing hostilities between the two states.

Meanwhile, Iranian authorities reported that Israeli forces had targeted an oil depot in a western district of Tehran, igniting a large fire. The Ministry of Oil confirmed that a fuel tank in southern Iran was also struck, though further details were not immediately disclosed.

In its latest update, the IRGC announced that Iranian air defense systems had intercepted three Israeli cruise missiles, ten drones, and dozens of quadcopters launched during the Israeli offensive.

Tensions between Tehran and Tel Aviv continue to rise sharply, with both sides exchanging strikes and showing little indication of restraint. The international community has called for de-escalation, but with each round of attacks, the threat of a broader regional conflict grows.
