Ankara, June 16, 2025 – The Europe Today: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation with British Foreign Secretary David Lammy to discuss the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, diplomatic sources confirmed on Sunday.
During the call, Minister Fidan voiced grave concern over the potential for the situation to spiral into a broader regional crisis. He underscored the urgent need to intensify diplomatic efforts aimed at halting hostilities and reviving nuclear negotiations without delay.
The conversation took place against the backdrop of mounting tensions following Israeli airstrikes on Friday that targeted Iranian nuclear and missile facilities. The attacks reportedly resulted in the deaths of senior Iranian military commanders and scientists.
In retaliation, Iran launched a series of ballistic missile strikes targeting multiple locations across Israel, causing casualties and substantial property damage.
