Azerbaijan Takes Part in CIS Interior Ministries Meeting on Organized Crime in Astana

Astana, June 17, 2025 – The Europe Today: A meeting of the heads of operational departments of the Interior Ministries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) took place in Astana, focusing on strengthening regional cooperation in the fight against organized crime.

The session brought together senior representatives from the Interior Ministries of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. Each delegation presented detailed reports on the current challenges and efforts underway in their respective countries to address transnational criminal threats.

Key discussions centered on coordinated measures to combat illegal arms trafficking, improve the mechanisms for exchanging operational and investigative information, and dismantle criminal groups operating across borders. The participants emphasized the importance of enhancing joint efforts and practical collaboration to increase the efficiency of regional security operations.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of CIS member states to deepen law enforcement cooperation and uphold collective security in the face of evolving transnational criminal challenges.
