President Mirziyoyev Highlights Tourism Potential in Kumushkon Mahalla

Tashkent, June 18, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Shavkat Mirziyoyev paid a visit to the Kumushkon mahalla in Parkent district to assess the area’s tourism potential and observe the operations of local guest houses, which are playing an increasingly vital role in the region’s socio-economic development.

Tourism has emerged in recent years as a significant engine of regional growth, with the Uzbek government actively fostering the sector through a range of support measures. These include tax incentives, financial assistance, and the development of critical infrastructure in officially designated tourist villages. As a result, many residents have capitalized on these opportunities by launching guest house businesses.

Kumushkon, known for its picturesque landscapes and cultural richness, has become a standout destination within the district. Today, the mahalla hosts more than 80 guest houses, collectively welcoming approximately 172,000 tourists annually.

Among the successful ventures is the guest house operated by Olim Yusubov, located near the serene Parkentsoy stream. The establishment, which accommodates up to 48 guests in traditionally decorated rooms, serves over 2,000 visitors each year. President Mirziyoyev commended the initiative and the community’s entrepreneurial drive. He stressed the need to replicate such models in other promising tourist areas across the country.

The President directed relevant government agencies to provide holistic support to tourism entrepreneurs—both financially and organizationally—including through the development of complementary services such as transport, local guides, and cultural programs.

He also underlined that activating the internal potential of mahallas contributes not only to increased tourist activity but also to job creation and economic empowerment at the grassroots level. In addition to natural beauty, the area is home to significant cultural and spiritual sites, including the revered pilgrimage destination of Masjidali.

Currently, there are around 1,000 guest houses operating throughout the Tashkent region, employing more than 2,500 people. This growing sector continues to play a crucial role in advancing local development and preserving Uzbekistan’s cultural heritage.
