Revolutionary Press Must Inspire National Development in New Era, Says Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính

Hanoi, June 22, 2025 – The Europe Today: Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính has underscored the vital role of Việt Nam’s revolutionary press in the country’s new era, calling it a powerful force for inspiring development, promoting noble values, and transforming collective aspirations into concrete action to build a stronger, more prosperous nation.

Speaking at the 19th National Press Awards ceremony held in Hà Nội on Saturday, where he presented top honors to outstanding journalists, the Prime Minister paid tribute to the 100-year legacy of Việt Nam’s revolutionary press, founded by President Hồ Chí Minh. He extended heartfelt congratulations to veteran journalists, media professionals, and award recipients on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Việt Nam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925–2025).

Reflecting on a century-long journey that began with the launch of the Thanh niên (Young People) newspaper, PM Chính emphasized that the revolutionary press has continually evolved and strengthened, becoming a sharp and indispensable political, cultural, and ideological weapon in service of the Fatherland and the people.

He asserted that the revolutionary press must remain an honest, objective voice, offering comprehensive and inclusive coverage of national life. It should serve as a crucial bridge between the Party, the State, and the people—championing truth and justice, fighting against corruption and negative phenomena, and promoting exemplary models and humanistic values throughout society.

PM Chính lauded the press for its pivotal role in guiding public opinion, consolidating social consensus, protecting the Party’s ideological foundation, countering hostile narratives, and elevating Việt Nam’s image on the international stage.

Speaking on the significance of the National Press Awards, the Prime Minister highlighted their role in recognising journalistic excellence. Over the past 19 editions, the awards have attracted tens of thousands of quality submissions, with numerous journalists advancing to leadership roles in both media organisations and Party-State institutions.

He also acknowledged the challenges facing journalists today, especially amid the rise of social media, evolving communication formats, and intensified competition in the information sector. Nonetheless, he expressed confidence in the press community’s resilience, urging journalists to remain innovative, adaptive, and committed to excellence.

PM Chính reaffirmed that the Party and State are committed to creating mechanisms and policies that will further the development of the revolutionary press. He urged the media to lead in adopting modern technology, advancing digital transformation, and building a dynamic, people-centred media ecosystem capable of shaping a healthy, humanistic information environment.

As Việt Nam enters a new chapter of growth and global integration, PM Chính called on the press to uphold the spirit of “a bright mind, a pure heart, and a sharp pen,” carrying forward its noble mission in the service of the nation and its people.

He concluded by expressing his hope that every journalist and media professional would continue to walk alongside the people, demonstrating dedication, overcoming adversity, and contributing meaningfully to the building of a strong, democratic, equitable, and civilised Việt Nam—fulfilling the vision set forth by President Hồ Chí Minh.
