Tashkent, June 24, 2025 — The Europe Today: President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a high-level Malaysian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy Transition and Water Resources Transformation, Fadillah bin Yusof, as part of an official visit to Uzbekistan.
The Malaysian delegation is participating in a series of bilateral engagements and is attending the United Nations Public Service Forum, currently being held in the historic city of Samarkand. During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah bin Yusof conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to President Mirziyoyev.
The discussions centred on enhancing the strategic and multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Malaysia, with a strong focus on implementing the outcomes of the Uzbek President’s high-level visit to Kuala Lumpur in February 2025. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the recent intensification of bilateral contacts, high-level visits, and people-to-people exchanges.
It was noted that since the beginning of the year, bilateral trade volume has increased by 25 percent, joint ventures have grown in number, and the frequency of direct air travel between the two nations has expanded significantly. In line with this momentum, a business forum involving leading companies from both countries is scheduled to take place on June 24.
President Mirziyoyev and Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah bin Yusof underscored the importance of fully realising the potential of economic cooperation and accelerating joint initiatives across a wide array of sectors. These include trade and investment, green energy and innovation, the oil and gas and chemical industries, geology, water resource management, electronics and the semiconductor industry, healthcare, vocational and workforce training, and the development of pilgrimage tourism.
The two sides reaffirmed their mutual commitment to fostering long-term partnerships, promoting sustainable development, and strengthening ties between the private sectors of both countries.
The meeting marked another milestone in Uzbekistan-Malaysia relations and reflected both governments’ shared ambition to deepen cooperation and expand opportunities in key strategic areas.
