Washington, D.C., June 24, 2025 — The Europe Today: Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday accused both Israel and Iran of violating a ceasefire agreement that he had announced only hours earlier, urging both countries to adhere to the terms of the truce and de-escalate the conflict, according to media reports.
Speaking to reporters before departing for The Hague to attend a NATO summit, Trump expressed frustration over renewed hostilities between the two regional rivals. In strongly worded remarks, he criticized both parties but appeared to direct sharper criticism toward Israel.
“They’ve violated [the ceasefire], but Israel’s violated it too,” Trump stated, adding that the two adversaries “don’t know what they’re doing.” He condemned Israel’s reported retaliatory strikes on Iran shortly after the ceasefire was agreed upon, saying, “As soon as we made the deal, they came out and dropped a load of bombs, the likes of which I’ve never seen before. The biggest load that we’ve seen. I’m not happy with Israel.”
Trump went on to warn that he would be “really unhappy” if Israel carried out further attacks, particularly in response to what he described as “one rocket that didn’t land.” His comments followed Israeli accusations that Iran had launched missiles after the ceasefire took effect, triggering warning sirens in northern Israel. Iran’s military denied the accusation, as reported by Iranian state media.
In a social media post later on Tuesday, Trump issued a stern warning to Israel, writing: “DROP THOSE BOMBS and it is a MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME NOW.” The post appeared to be a direct appeal for restraint amid mounting fears of a broader regional conflict.
Following Israel’s claim that Iran breached the ceasefire, the Israeli military announced a limited retaliatory strike targeting a radar installation near Tehran. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office confirmed the strike in a brief statement, though sources described the action as largely symbolic.
Despite the back-and-forth accusations and renewed hostilities, Trump later reaffirmed that the ceasefire remained officially in effect. He sought to deescalate tensions through another social media message, stating: “ISRAEL is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly ‘Plane Wave’ to Iran. Nobody will be hurt, the Ceasefire is in effect! Thank you for your attention to this matter.”
