Tianjin, June 26, 2025 – The Europe Today: Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended a high-level symposium with international business leaders on the sidelines of the 16th Annual Meeting of the New Champions — also known as the Summer Davos — held in Tianjin Municipality, north China. The event brought together around 160 business representatives from over 30 countries and regions.
During the symposium, Premier Li exchanged views with participants and delivered a comprehensive assessment of the current global economic landscape and China’s role within it. He noted that the international environment is undergoing profound and complex transformations, posing considerable challenges to global economic development.
Li emphasized that despite these global headwinds, the Chinese economy continues to demonstrate stable and resilient growth. He attributed this performance to a strong foundation, proactive and effective macroeconomic policies, and the dynamic contributions of enterprises — both domestic and foreign-funded.
“Foreign-invested enterprises have played a substantial role in China’s economic development,” he stated, adding that China continues to offer vast opportunities and a wide platform for their growth and innovation.
In addressing the evolving global industrial landscape, Premier Li underscored the importance of improving the quality and efficiency of industrial supply structures. He highlighted China’s robust industrial infrastructure and supply chains, which continue to undergo optimization.
Li also drew attention to China’s strength in technological innovation, fueled by the rapid application of new technologies and a vast consumer base. This, he said, facilitates close interaction between technological and industrial innovation, creating fertile ground for international cooperation in science and technology.
“There is ample space and significant potential for foreign enterprises to engage in joint innovation and research in China,” he affirmed.
Stability in the business environment, Premier Li stressed, is a critical factor for sustained economic growth. He noted that China’s economy has shown the capacity to withstand external shocks while maintaining steady momentum. This stability, he added, is underpinned by the country’s consistent policy of openness to the outside world.
“Multinational enterprises can find greater opportunities for success in China through deepened cooperation and alignment with Chinese companies,” Li said. He encouraged foreign enterprises to introduce more high-quality products and services to the Chinese market and strengthen partnerships in technology and industry for mutual benefit.
Reiterating China’s commitment to openness, Premier Li assured attendees that the country would continue to welcome foreign investment and foster an environment conducive to global cooperation.
In response, business leaders at the symposium expressed continued confidence in China’s economic outlook and commitment to reform and openness. They affirmed their intention to expand investments in technological innovation and contribute to the stability of industrial and supply chains, while aligning with China’s high-quality development trajectory.
