Ashgabat, June 26, 2025 – The Europe Today: Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held official talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Ashgabat on Tuesday, according to a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The meeting centered on further strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to deepening multifaceted cooperation. Particular emphasis was placed on expanding trade and economic ties, as well as advancing cultural and humanitarian collaboration.
The ministers also exchanged views on key regional and international developments. They highlighted the importance of continued constructive engagement within multilateral frameworks such as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Caspian Five, the “Central Asia + Russia” format, and the United Nations.
A significant outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Cooperation Program between the Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and Russia for 2025–2026, which aims to bolster diplomatic dialogue and facilitate the implementation of joint initiatives.
Earlier the same day, Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov was received by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The meeting reflected the high level of mutual trust and the shared commitment to advancing bilateral relations across all key sectors.
