Baku, June 27, 2025 – The Europe Today: A delegation led by Colonel General Karim Valiyev, First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, participated in a series of high-profile defense engagements in Türkiye, including observing the international military exercises “Defender of Peace – 2025” and “Anatolian Eagle – 2025.”
Colonel General Valiyev first observed the “Defender of Peace – 2025” exercise in Istanbul, where he and his delegation were briefed on the exercise’s planning, scenario, objectives, and the sequence of task execution. The exercise brought together international participants and showcased advanced operational coordination.
Following this engagement, the Azerbaijani defense chief traveled to Konya to attend the Distinguished Visitors Day of the “Anatolian Eagle – 2025” exercise. The event featured the participation of a contingent from the Azerbaijan Air Force, including pilots, technical personnel, and military aircraft.
As part of his official visit, Colonel General Valiyev held meetings with high-ranking Turkish defense officials, including Yaşar Güler, Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Türkiye; Army General Metin Gürak, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces; and Professor Erhan Afyoncu, Rector of the National Defense University.
During these meetings, both sides emphasized the strategic nature of Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations, which are grounded in mutual trust, fraternity, and shared strategic objectives. Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in military, military-technical, and military education spheres.
The two sides also exchanged views on future collaboration and explored avenues for deepening cooperation in areas of mutual interest, reaffirming the strength of their enduring alliance.
