Prague, June 27, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Czech Chamber of Deputies has officially approved the deployment of up to 30 soldiers to Kenya, where they will serve as military instructors and advisors until the end of 2026. The mission is designed to enhance the operational capacity of Kenyan forces, particularly in counterterrorism and crisis response.
Under the approved mandate, Czech troops may also accompany Kenyan units during active operations if requested by local authorities. This deployment builds upon the Czech Republic’s prior military training engagements in the East African region, which date back to 2012, and now enjoys full parliamentary backing.
Speaking in parliament on behalf of the absent defense and foreign ministers, Minister for Science Marek Ženíšek of the TOP09 Party emphasized that the Czech government views the stability of East Africa as a strategic concern for Europe. He highlighted the region’s direct impact on European security, maritime safety, and migration management.
The decision signals the Czech Republic’s growing commitment to international security partnerships and its support for African-led efforts to combat extremism and promote regional stability.
