Azerbaijan Foreign Ministry Condemns Deadly Attacks Against Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg

Baku, June 28, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan has expressed deep concern over the deadly raids carried out by the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) against members of the Azerbaijani community in Yekaterinburg, Russian Federation.

According to an official statement issued on Friday, the Azerbaijani government strongly condemned the incidents that took place on the morning of June 27, during which Azerbaijani nationals were reportedly killed, several sustained serious injuries, and nine individuals were detained.

“We express our deep concern over the raids by the Russian Federal Security Service on the homes of Azerbaijanis in Yekaterinburg on the morning of June 27, which resulted in the deaths of our compatriots, the serious injuries of some of them, and the detention of 9 people,” the statement read.

The Foreign Ministry called on Russian authorities to launch a swift and transparent investigation and to ensure that those responsible for the violence are held accountable.

“We expect from the Russian side to conduct an urgent investigation into the matter and bring the perpetrators of this unacceptable violence to justice as soon as possible,” the ministry emphasized.

The incident has sparked widespread concern in Azerbaijan, with officials and civil society figures urging respect for the rights and safety of Azerbaijani citizens and diaspora communities abroad.
