China and Ecuador Deepen Strategic Ties as Xi Jinping and Daniel Noboa Meet in Beijing

Beijing, June 28, 2025 – The Europe Today: Chinese President Xi Jinping met with President Daniel Noboa of Ecuador in Beijing on Friday, reaffirming the growing strength of bilateral relations as the two countries celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

During the meeting, President Xi highlighted the positive momentum that has characterized China-Ecuador relations over the past decades. He noted Ecuador’s accession to the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the signing of a bilateral free trade agreement as key milestones, which have led to fruitful cooperation in sectors such as energy, mining, power, and infrastructure.

“China has always approached relations with Ecuador from a strategic and long-term perspective,” Xi stated, expressing China’s readiness to work alongside Ecuador to further advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

President Xi emphasized the importance of mutual respect and trust, calling on both sides to remain good friends and reliable partners. He encouraged stronger collaboration in safeguarding each other’s core interests, increasing exchanges in governance practices, and supporting major national priorities.

He also urged the two nations to implement key cooperative projects effectively, promote bilateral trade, and enhance people-to-people exchanges across education, culture, media, and youth platforms. Additionally, he called for joint efforts in implementing the outcomes of the fourth ministerial meeting of the China–CELAC Forum.

President Noboa, who is visiting China to attend the 2025 Summer Davos Forum in Tianjin, expressed admiration for China’s remarkable development and reiterated Ecuador’s gratitude for China’s consistent support in its social and economic advancement.

“Ecuador will always remember China’s assistance, and we look forward to deepening cooperation in trade, science and technology, education, culture, and youth exchanges,” Noboa said.

Following the talks, both leaders witnessed the signing of a cooperation plan aimed at promoting joint efforts under the Belt and Road Initiative, further solidifying the foundation for future collaboration.

The meeting marks a significant step in strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Ecuador, with both nations committed to shared growth and mutual prosperity.
