Rome, June 29, 2025 – The Europe Today: An Azerbaijani delegation led by Minister of Agriculture Majnun Mammadov is on a working visit to Italy to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector.
As part of the visit, Minister Mammadov held a meeting with Mariateresa Maschio, President of the Italian Agricultural Machinery Manufacturers Federation (FederUnacoma). During the talks, Minister Mammadov presented an overview of Azerbaijan’s agricultural development strategies under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
He emphasized that the agricultural sector in Azerbaijan enjoys significant state support and incentives, including full exemption from all taxes except land tax, as well as access to subsidies, concessional loans, and various support mechanisms aimed at boosting productivity and modernization.
The discussion explored opportunities for Italian suppliers to present modern agricultural machinery in Azerbaijan, enhancing exposure to advanced technologies and solutions tailored to the country’s needs.
President Maschio provided an overview of FederUnacoma’s activities, noting that the federation unites leading Italian companies specializing in state-of-the-art agricultural machinery and equipment. She expressed strong interest in deepening cooperation with Azerbaijan, particularly in the field of mechanization.
The meeting focused on expanding bilateral collaboration in key areas such as modernizing Azerbaijan’s agricultural machinery fleet, establishing an Italian Agricultural Machinery Center in Azerbaijan, and promoting resource-efficient technologies through joint initiatives. Both sides expressed readiness to explore mutually beneficial projects that could contribute to sustainable agricultural development.
The visit reflects Azerbaijan’s strategic efforts to attract international partnerships to support the modernization and innovation of its agricultural sector while fostering closer economic ties with European partners like Italy.
