Ashgabat, The Gulf Observer: More than 180 new residential buildings are currently under construction as part of the second phase of Arkadag City’s development, according to a report published on Saturday by the Türkmenistan newspaper, citing the State Committee for the Construction of Arkadag City under the President of Turkmenistan.
The ambitious second phase includes the construction of:
- Thirty-six five-story apartment blocks with 30 units each
- Thirty-six five-story buildings with 40 units each
- Twenty-four seven-story buildings with 42 units each
- Fourteen nine-story buildings with 54 units each
- Seventy-two two-story duplex cottages equipped with smart home technology
The residential complexes are being designed with integrated infrastructure, ensuring convenient access to educational institutions, retail outlets, service centers, and other essential facilities for residents.
In addition to housing, the second stage of development in the “smart” city includes the construction of:
- Five general education schools, each accommodating 720 students
- Nine kindergartens, each for 320 children
- A health clinic
- A fire station
- Administrative offices for the Gorjaw district administration
- A bus terminal and railway station
- A fine carpet production facility
- The National Museum of Turkmen Carpets and Handicrafts
- Parks, shopping centers, and service facilities
Arkadag City, officially inaugurated on June 29, 2023, represents Turkmenistan’s first “smart” city initiative. The first phase of development saw the successful completion of 336 modern facilities, marking a major milestone in the country’s urban planning and technological innovation. The ongoing second phase is set to further transform the city into a model of sustainable and digitally integrated urban living.
