Rawalpindi, June 30, 2025 – The Europe Today: H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, paid a courtesy call on the Honorable Defence Secretary of Pakistan, Lt. Gen (R) Muhammad Ali HI(M), to discuss avenues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the current state of Pakistan-Ethiopia relations and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further enhancing diplomatic, economic, and strategic ties between the two countries.
Ambassador Beker briefed the Defence Secretary on the wide-ranging political, social, and legal reforms implemented in Ethiopia under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed. He highlighted the transformative nature of these reforms and their impact on Ethiopia’s national development and regional engagement.
The Ambassador also noted the renewed momentum in bilateral relations following the establishment of the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad and the launch of Ethiopian Airlines’ direct operations in Pakistan. He emphasized Ethiopia’s strategic geographical location and its significant contributions to regional peace, security, and integration.
Commending Ethiopia’s homegrown economic reform agenda aimed at sustainable development, the Defence Secretary expressed appreciation for the country’s progress and reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to strengthening ties with African nations, particularly Ethiopia.
Lt. Gen (R) Muhammad Ali assured Ambassador Beker of his full support in advancing cooperation across various sectors, underlining Pakistan’s desire to work closely with Ethiopia to promote shared goals of peace, prosperity, and regional cooperation.
