Baku, July 1, 2025 – The Europe Today: Ramid Namazov, a member of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (National Assembly), has strongly condemned the recent actions of Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) in Yekaterinburg, describing them as “unlawful” and “utterly unacceptable.” His remarks were made in an official statement to the media following reports of violent incidents involving Azerbaijani nationals.
Namazov stated that the operations carried out by the FSB resulted in the deaths, serious injuries, and arrests of Azerbaijani citizens and were accompanied by aggressive behavior and inhumane treatment directed at the Azerbaijani community living in Russia.
“The unlawful actions of Russia’s Federal Security Service in Yekaterinburg, resulting in the deaths, severe injuries, and arrests of our compatriots, as well as the aggressive behavior and inhumane treatment directed at Azerbaijanis living in Russia, are utterly unacceptable,” he declared.
He warned that these actions appear designed to intimidate Azerbaijanis not only in Yekaterinburg but also across other regions of the Russian Federation, forcing them into a position of uncertainty and fear.
Namazov reassured Azerbaijani citizens living abroad that the government of Azerbaijan, under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, remains committed to protecting the rights and interests of its compatriots worldwide.
“Our citizens and compatriots abroad are well aware that, under the leadership and directives of the Leader of Azerbaijanis worldwide, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, relevant state institutions consistently take necessary measures to protect the rights and interests of our compatriots living in any part of the world,” he said.
Namazov also addressed the spread of false information surrounding the incident, stating that misinformation was being circulated with the intention of distorting the facts.
“Based on our monitoring, we can say that a significant amount of false and disinformation-based content is being shared regarding these events. We urge our citizens and compatriots abroad to trust only the information provided by Azerbaijan’s state officials and to avoid falling for false narratives,” he emphasized.
The statement underscores Azerbaijan’s firm stance on the protection of its diaspora and calls for calm and vigilance among its citizens amid growing concerns over the treatment of Azerbaijani communities abroad.
