Karachi, July 1, 2025 – The Europe Today: Governor of Sindh Province Kamran Khan Tesorri received and held working discussions with H.E. Pham Anh Tuan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Pakistan, during the latter’s official visit to the province. The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral economic cooperation and exploring investment opportunities between Vietnam and the Sindh province.
Introducing an overview of the socio-economic development of Sindh, Governor Tesorri emphasized the province’s pivotal role in Pakistan’s economy. He highlighted that Sindh is one of the country’s three largest provinces, contributing approximately 35% to the national GDP. The governor underscored Sindh’s outstanding strengths in seaports, logistics, industrial hubs, banking and finance, and food processing.
Reaffirming the province’s commitment to fostering international business relations, Governor Tesorri pledged full support to Vietnamese business delegations visiting Karachi. He stated that Sindh is ready to facilitate connections between investors from both countries, favoring actionable partnerships over symbolic memorandums. “We believe in action instead of formal memorandums of understanding,” the governor remarked.
Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan expressed appreciation for the development vision of the Sindh leadership and their proactive support for foreign businesses. Both sides agreed to advance practical cooperation in areas such as agriculture, textiles, industry, fisheries, and investment.
As part of the visit’s agenda, the Embassy of Vietnam in Pakistan, in collaboration with the Pakistan Fisheries Association and the Pakistan Tea Association, co-hosted two seminars titled: “Fisheries Cooperation: Orientation for Strategic Linkage and Sustainable Development” and “Developing Vietnam’s Tea Industry According to Halal Standards to Increase Exports to Pakistan.”
At the fisheries seminar, the participants emphasized the importance of establishing direct channels of cooperation between fisheries management authorities, promoting mutual recognition of Halal standards, encouraging technology transfers, and expanding joint ventures and training initiatives. Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan reiterated Vietnam’s readiness to support Pakistani enterprises in accessing Vietnamese markets, particularly in the Halal product segment.
The seminar on Vietnam’s tea industry was held in a hybrid format, connecting 14 key Vietnamese provinces known for tea production, including Lam Dong, Thai Nguyen, Lai Chau, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Ha Giang, and Yen Bai. The focus was on enhancing the export of Halal-certified CTC black tea to Pakistan. Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan proposed strengthening the exchange of business delegations, organizing promotional programs, and building a strong Vietnamese tea brand in the Pakistani market.
Participating businesses engaged in open dialogue regarding technical barriers, quarantine protocols, traceability requirements, and customs procedures. The Ambassador assured that the Vietnamese Embassy and Trade Office in Pakistan would continue supporting enterprises in overcoming challenges and fostering more effective cooperation in the tea sector, thereby contributing to increased bilateral trade.
In addition, Ambassador Pham Anh Tuan held a working session with the leadership of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI). He proposed establishing direct institutional cooperation between KCCI and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to facilitate trade and investment through fairs, exhibitions, and other promotional activities.
During his stay in Karachi, the Ambassador also met with members of the Vietnamese community living and working in the city. He listened to their concerns and aspirations, reaffirming that the Embassy and Trade Office serve as a shared home for the community. He encouraged them to preserve their cultural identity, uphold the spirit of unity, and actively contribute to strengthening the image of Vietnam in Pakistan.
The visit marked a significant step in enhancing bilateral relations, with a shared commitment to transforming diplomatic goodwill into tangible outcomes across multiple sectors.
