Karachi, July 2, 2025 – The Europe Today: H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Special Envoy and Ambassador Extraordinary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), held a productive meeting with H.E. Kamran Tessori, Governor of Sindh, aimed at strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Ethiopia and Pakistan.
The high-level meeting focused on fostering collaboration across key sectors including trade, investment, aviation, energy, and climate change. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing mutual ties for the benefit of their peoples.
During the meeting, Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker briefed Governor Tessori on the launch of Ethiopia’s flagship Green Legacy Initiative 2024, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed in June under the theme “Renewal through Planting.” He highlighted Ethiopia’s achievement of planting over 40 billion seedlings since 2019 and shared the ambitious target of planting more than 7.5 billion seedlings this year, a step that will contribute significantly to expanding the country’s green cover, ensuring food security, and generating employment.
To further deepen bilateral relations through climate action, Ambassador Beker proposed launching a joint plantation and public awareness campaign in Sindh under the banner of “Ethio-Pakistan Fraternity under the Green Legacy Initiative.”
Welcoming the proposal, Governor Tessori expressed full support from the Governor House Sindh and assured cooperation with the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad for the successful execution of the campaign. He also emphasized the importance of mobilizing public participation to ensure the campaign’s long-term success.
The Governor commended the growing relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan and underlined the need for continued collaboration across multiple sectors to build a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership.
