Ilham Aliyev Receives Turkmen Foreign Minister, Reaffirming Strategic Ties and Cultural Cooperation

Khankendi, July 4, 2025 – The Europe Today:  President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev received Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, on Thursday, according to the press service of the Azerbaijani Presidency.

During the meeting, Minister Meredov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, as well as from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the conveyed greetings and kindly requested Minister Meredov to extend his own heartfelt wishes to the Turkmen leadership and the brotherly people of Turkmenistan.

Both sides emphasized the deep-rooted historical, cultural, and ethnic ties uniting the peoples of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, describing their relationship as that of brotherly nations. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss the strengthening of bilateral cooperation in a wide range of areas, including energy, transportation, culture, humanitarian initiatives, science, and education.

Highlighting the importance of cultural diplomacy, President Aliyev and Minister Meredov noted the successful organization of Turkmenistan Culture Days in Azerbaijan and Azerbaijan Culture Days in Turkmenistan as a testament to the growing cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the two countries.

The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both sides to further deepen the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan across multiple domains.
