Islamabad, July 5, 2025 – The Europe Today: The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan, Atajan Movlamov, held a meeting with Umer Siddique, Director General for United Nations Affairs at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to discuss bilateral collaboration within the framework of the United Nations, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Pakistan reported.
During the meeting, Ambassador Movlamov provided a detailed briefing on the upcoming Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), set to be held in August 2025 in the Awaza National Tourist Zone of Turkmenistan. He emphasized the global significance of the conference, not only for landlocked states but also for countries seeking to enhance resilient connectivity, sustainable logistics, and regional integration.
Director General Siddique commended Turkmenistan for hosting the high-level international forum, describing it as a reflection of Ashgabat’s constructive and neutral foreign policy. He highlighted the strategic importance of sustainable access to the sea for landlocked countries and reiterated Pakistan’s support for initiatives that foster inclusive and equitable development across regions.
Ambassador Movlamov also congratulated Pakistan on assuming the presidency of the United Nations Security Council, extending best wishes for the country’s success in advancing the objectives of the International Year of Peace and Trust.
In response, Siddique reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to using its leadership role at the UN to promote a just, peaceful, and balanced multipolar world order in line with the UN Charter and international norms.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Pakistan within the UN system and reiterated their intention to strengthen bilateral dialogue grounded in mutual respect, trust, and shared interests on multilateral platforms.
