Baku, July 08, 2025 – The Europe Today: Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Azerbaijan, Inam Karimov, met with a high-level Turkish judicial delegation led by Adem Albayrak, First Vice President of Türkiye’s Court of Cassation, to discuss deepening cooperation in the legal and judicial spheres.
During the meeting, Chief Justice Karimov emphasized the strong strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, which extends across political, cultural, and judicial fields. He underlined the vital role of knowledge exchange in promoting legal reform, strengthening judicial efficiency, and enhancing the protection of citizens’ rights.
Karimov noted the importance of cooperation in key areas such as transparent judicial administration, citizen-centered justice, and modern governance practices within the judiciary. He expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s support and commitment to further advancing bilateral collaboration.
In his remarks, Vice President Albayrak reaffirmed the strategic nature of Azerbaijan-Türkiye relations, emphasizing that the legal and judicial sectors are integral to this partnership. He commended Azerbaijan for the significant progress it has made in implementing judicial reforms and confirmed Türkiye’s readiness to share its experience and technical expertise in support of Azerbaijan’s legal modernization efforts.
Following the meeting, a joint roundtable was held focusing on the application of Turkish legislation. Azerbaijani and Turkish judges and legal professionals engaged in substantive discussions on judicial precedents, particularly concerning the assessment of moral damages, legal justifications for compensation, and the foundational principles of public justice.
The visit and dialogue underscored the two countries’ mutual commitment to fostering a robust legal partnership based on shared values, professional development, and strategic cooperation within the judiciary.
