Washington, D.C., July 08, 2025 – The Europe Today: U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday that the United States will provide additional military assistance to Ukraine, following renewed territorial gains by Russian forces and intensified attacks in the ongoing conflict.
Speaking to journalists at the White House, President Trump confirmed plans to deliver more defensive weapons to Kyiv, stating, “They’re getting hit very, very hard. We’re going to have to send more weapons — defensive weapons primarily.”
The announcement comes just days after Washington signaled a temporary halt to certain weapons shipments, a move that reportedly left Ukrainian officials unprepared and seeking clarification, according to foreign media reports cited by News.Az.
The pause in deliveries had raised serious concerns in Kyiv, which is currently facing some of the largest missile and drone attacks seen in the more than three-year-long war. Ukrainian defense forces have struggled to repel the recent escalation, including strikes on military recruitment centers across the country.
President Trump also expressed discontent with Russian President Vladimir Putin, stating he was “not happy” with recent Russian actions.
The U.S. commitment to renewed military support was made shortly after Moscow claimed control of its first village in Ukraine’s central Dnipropetrovsk region, marking a strategic advance that had been in progress for several months.
In a separate development, Ukraine reported conducting a drone strike on a Russian ammunition factory located in the Moscow region, as part of its ongoing counteroffensive efforts.
President Trump’s pledge signals continued U.S. involvement in the conflict and aims to bolster Ukraine’s defensive capabilities amid an increasingly volatile military landscape.
