Brussels, July 08, 2025 – The Europe Today: Turkmenistan outlined its key energy policy priorities during a high-level roundtable hosted by the Brussels Energy Club, an influential analytical platform focused on global energy developments. The event brought together energy experts, industry representatives, and policymakers to discuss energy security and emerging trends in the sector.
Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Belgium, H.E. Sapar Palvanov, delivered the keynote address, reaffirming his country’s strong interest in deepening cooperation with the European Union and European energy companies. The ambassador emphasized Turkmenistan’s long-term strategy, which prioritizes diversification of export routes, the expansion of hydrocarbon processing, and the modernization of national energy infrastructure.
According to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Belgium, Ambassador Palvanov underlined the importance of forming mutually beneficial, sustainable partnerships with European stakeholders. “Turkmenistan remains committed to expanding energy cooperation based on shared interests and long-term collaboration,” he said.
A central topic of discussion was the potential construction of the Trans-Caspian Gas Pipeline, which would allow for the transport of Turkmen natural gas to European markets via the Southern Gas Corridor. The project is widely regarded as a strategic initiative to diversify Europe’s energy supply sources and reduce dependence on a limited number of suppliers.
The roundtable also addressed opportunities in domestic gas processing. Turkmenistan is currently advancing a series of industrial projects focused on producing polymers, fertilizers, synthetic fuels, and other high-value products from natural gas. These developments offer promising avenues for collaboration with European investors and technology firms, particularly in areas related to innovation and sustainability.
The Brussels Energy Club continues to serve as a key forum for dialogue between global energy stakeholders, facilitating constructive exchanges on energy policy, infrastructure development, and security. Turkmenistan’s active engagement in the roundtable reflects its growing role in the international energy landscape and its commitment to forging diversified partnerships with the European market.
