Tianjin, July 16, 2025 – The Europe Today: As part of his visit to China to participate in the regular meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held a bilateral meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi, according to media reports and the press service of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry.
During the talks, the two ministers discussed a broad spectrum of issues related to Kazakh-Chinese cooperation, including the current state and future prospects of collaboration in the political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian domains.
Both sides acknowledged the positive momentum in the development of political dialogue between Kazakhstan and China. Special emphasis was placed on the implementation of agreements reached during recent high-level meetings between the leaders of the two countries, as well as the schedule for upcoming top-level engagements.
Minister Nurtleu highlighted the outcomes of the trust-based and open dialogue between the Heads of State held earlier this year in Astana, noting:
“As a result of the high-level talks, new ambitious goals were set and a future trajectory for cooperation was defined. Our shared responsibility is now to ensure the effective realization of the agreed initiatives.”
The ministers also explored avenues for further expanding cooperation in trade, economic development, investment, energy, and transit-transport infrastructure.
In addition to bilateral matters, the two sides exchanged views on key regional and global issues. They reaffirmed their commitment to continued close coordination within multilateral platforms, including the United Nations (UN), Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), and the Central Asia – China cooperation format.
This meeting followed Minister Nurtleu’s participation in the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, where foreign ministers prepared for the upcoming SCO Heads of State Summit scheduled for September 2025 in Tianjin.
