China Urges Diplomatic Solution to Iranian Nuclear Issue

Beijing, July 22, 2025 – The Europe Today: China has reiterated its firm stance on the peaceful resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic engagement to ensure stability in the Middle East and uphold the global non-proliferation regime.

Speaking at a regular press briefing in Beijing on Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun underscored China’s commitment to promoting dialogue and negotiation. “The Iranian nuclear issue is concerned with peace and security in the Middle East and is also concerned with the international non-proliferation regime,” Guo stated.

He stressed that diplomacy remains the only viable path forward. “We always believe a diplomatic approach should be used to resolve the Iranian nuclear issue, and this is the only right way,” he said.

Guo further called on all stakeholders to demonstrate constructive engagement. “We call on all parties to walk in the same direction and contribute to the political settlement track of the Iranian nuclear issue,” he added.

China’s remarks come as Iran and the three European signatories to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) — France, Germany, and the United Kingdom (collectively known as the E3) — prepare to resume nuclear negotiations this Friday in Istanbul, Türkiye.

The renewed diplomatic efforts follow a period of heightened tensions and stalled talks, with hopes that the upcoming meeting may pave the way for substantive progress in reviving the nuclear agreement and ensuring regional security.
