Baku Hosts 8th Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan Joint Intergovernmental Commission Meeting

Baku, July 28, 2025 – The Europe Today: The 8th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan was held in Baku, bringing together high-level representatives to strengthen bilateral ties and explore new avenues of collaboration.

The session was co-chaired by Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikail Jabbarov, and Turkmenistan’s Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Nokerguly Atagulyyev. Both officials led their respective delegations during the productive round of talks.

In a statement shared via his official social media account on Monday, Minister Jabbarov announced that the discussions emphasized key sectors such as business development, mutual trade, the energy sector, transport infrastructure, industrial production, and agriculture. The meeting also focused on encouraging mutual investment and boosting economic partnerships.

“This meeting reflects the dynamic nature of Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan relations and the mutual commitment of both nations to deepen cooperation in strategic sectors,” Jabbarov noted.

The Commission serves as a vital platform for institutional dialogue and policy coordination between the two countries. The 7th session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission was previously held on November 28, 2023, in Ashgabat, where initial steps toward several joint initiatives were laid out.

The ongoing dialogue underscores the historical, cultural, and economic closeness between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, reinforcing their shared vision for regional stability and development.
