President Reviews Andijan Region’s Reform Progress and Approves $1.1 Billion in New Development Projects

Tashkent, July 29, 2025 – The Europe Today: The President of Uzbekistan was presented with a detailed report on the progress of ongoing reforms and new strategic initiatives aimed at accelerating the socio-economic development of the Andijan region.

The briefing followed the implementation of the Presidential Resolution dated November 18, 2024, which outlined a comprehensive set of measures to strengthen the investment climate, support entrepreneurship, and improve living standards in the region.

In line with these goals, the Andijan region has set ambitious targets for 2025, including attracting $3.1 billion in investments, exporting goods worth $1.5 billion, creating 305,000 new jobs, and lifting more than 32,000 families out of poverty.

Since the beginning of the year, the region has launched new production capacities worth $1 billion and established 344 new trade and service complexes. Projects totaling $2.5 billion have been initiated, while $850 million in investments have already been attracted in the first half of the year. Export volumes during the same period reached $465 million.

The President’s visit to Andijan in April and the subsequent instructions he issued have served as a significant catalyst for regional development. In response, a Reform Headquarters has been set up, bringing together academic experts and entrepreneurs to design innovative proposals for further economic and social advancement. During the presentation, responsible officials provided justifications for the new initiatives and outlined their anticipated outcomes.

Among the highlighted projects is the establishment of a cutting-edge medical clinic equipped with robotic technologies sourced from Germany, Türkiye, and Japan, with a total investment of $40 million. In addition, diplomatic missions are facilitating negotiations to attract €20 million from Italy for an agro-cluster and €25 million from Germany for a modern agro-logistics complex.

To promote the tourism sector, more than 30 initiatives have been developed in Khanabad city, as well as in Khojaabad and Bulakbashi districts, aimed at establishing tourism zones. Altogether, an additional portfolio of projects worth $1.1 billion has been formulated, with the potential to create 22,000 new jobs and boost annual exports by $200 million.

The President underscored the importance of adopting a tailored approach for each city and district, particularly focusing on areas with low investment levels. He instructed officials to prioritize training and employment for the unemployed and vulnerable families, and to implement measures to transform local neighborhoods (mahallas) into crime-free zones.

These efforts mark a significant step forward in realizing sustainable development and inclusive growth across the Andijan region.
