Iranian Foreign Minister Rules Out Immediate Talks with U.S., Vows to Uphold Legacy of Martyrs

Tehran, July 30, 2025 – The Europe Today: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has announced that no concrete plans have been established for negotiations with the United States, reaffirming Iran’s commitment to preserving the legacy of those martyred during the recent war.

Speaking on Tuesday at a ceremony commemorating the 40th day since the martyrdom of those who perished in the recent conflict, Araqchi emphasized the principled stance of the Foreign Ministry regarding any future diplomatic engagements. The event was held at the Imam Khomeini Hussainiya in Tehran and was attended by senior officials, military commanders, and families of the martyrs.

In an interview with the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) during the ceremony, Araqchi stated, “No specific arrangements have been made for negotiations yet. However, in any arena, including negotiations, should we decide to participate, our goal will be to defend the blood of the martyrs and the cause for which they were martyred.”

The ceremony also featured a keynote address by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, who commended the steadfastness of the Iranian nation and armed forces. Referring to the 12-day war waged by Israel against Iran, the Leader underscored that the conflict revealed the resilience and enduring strength of the Islamic Republic.

“These types of challenges are not unfamiliar to us,” Ayatollah Khamenei remarked. “For decades, Iran has resisted foreign conspiracies, coups, and seditions, emerging stronger each time.”

The war, initiated by Israel on June 13, involved a series of targeted strikes that killed high-ranking Iranian military commanders and scientists and resulted in widespread civilian casualties. More than 1,000 people were reported dead following the aggression, which included attacks on residential neighborhoods.

The United States entered the conflict on June 22 by launching airstrikes against three critical Iranian nuclear facilities. The hostilities ended with a ceasefire demanded by Israel, which took effect on June 24.

In response to the attacks, the Iranian Armed Forces launched retaliatory strikes targeting Israeli-occupied territories and a major U.S. airbase in Qatar, demonstrating Iran’s military preparedness and strategic resolve.

The ceremony served not only as a commemoration of the martyrs but also as a reaffirmation of Iran’s commitment to its sovereignty, resistance doctrine, and the pursuit of justice for the lives lost.
