Azerbaijan Shines at the 39th Jerash International Festival of Culture and Arts in Jordan

Baku, August 1, 2025 – The Europe Today: Azerbaijan is proudly represented at the 39th Jerash International Festival of Culture and Arts, currently taking place in the historic city of Jerash, Jordan. The event is held under the patronage of His Majesty King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein and organized by the Jordanian Ministry of Culture under the slogan “Here is Jordan… and its glory endures.”

With the support of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Culture, a talented Azerbaijani delegation led by renowned tar player Ibrahim Babayev is participating in the prestigious cultural event. The group includes soloists from the Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble and accomplished musicians.

As part of the festival’s main program, the Azerbaijani team presented the “MughaMix” music project, spearheaded by Babayev. The concert, held in the central square of ancient Jerash, captivated the audience with performances by Ibrahim Babayev (tar), Anar Valizada (balaban), and Vafadar Ramiz (nagara). The repertoire featured pieces such as “Fantasy” from Uzeyir Hajibeyli’s musical comedy “O olmasın, bu olsun” (“If Not That One, Then This One”), H. Hasanov’s “I Always Remember”, and beloved Azerbaijani folk melodies “Kharibulbul” and “Sarı Gəlin.”

Additionally, original compositions by Babayev, including “MughaMix,” “Dance in the Sky,” and “17.17,” were presented to enthusiastic acclaim. The Azerbaijan State Dance Ensemble further enriched the performance with renditions of the folk dance “Yaylıq,” Vaqif Mustafazadeh’s “Dance,” and the vibrant choreography “Colors of Azerbaijan,” performed in collaboration with the musical trio.

The concert drew considerable interest and applause, reflecting Azerbaijan’s growing presence on the international cultural stage.

The Jerash Festival is one of the most significant cultural and artistic gatherings in the region. It annually brings together Jordanian, Arab, and international performers to celebrate artistic diversity through concerts, theatrical productions, and cultural exhibitions. This year’s edition features over 235 cultural and artistic events, including performances by leading Jordanian and Arab stars, poetry evenings with more than 140 poets, and showcases by folklore ensembles from various countries.

Azerbaijan’s participation marks a deepening of cultural ties between nations and underscores the country’s commitment to promoting its rich artistic heritage on global platforms.
