President Tokayev and Turkmen Leader Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Hold Brief Meeting in Turkmenbashi

Turkmenbashi, The Europe Today – August 5, 2025: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a brief but cordial conversation with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan, during his arrival at the airport in the city of Türkmenbaşy, according to media reports.

During the exchange, President Tokayev underscored the steady progress and upward trajectory of bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan. He emphasized that the strengthening ties between the two countries are reflective of their shared strategic interests and mutual respect.

Commenting on the significance of the high-level forum being hosted in Turkmenistan with the personal participation of the United Nations Secretary-General, President Tokayev noted that this attests to Turkmenistan’s strong international standing. He further lauded the country’s long-standing foreign policy of positive neutrality, which it has upheld for over 30 years. “Kazakhstan fully supports this policy,” he affirmed.

In response, Chairman Berdimuhamedov praised the special nature of Kazakh-Turkmen relations, highlighting their deep-rooted friendship and enduring partnership.

Both leaders agreed on the importance of further consolidating the spirit of good-neighborliness and close cooperation, reiterating their mutual commitment to enhancing bilateral relations across all sectors.
