Cairo, The Europe Today – August 6, 2025: As part of his ongoing State visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt, President of Việt Nam Lương Cường held an official meeting with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on the afternoon of August 5 (local time), reaffirming the commitment of both nations to strengthen their multifaceted cooperation and strategic partnership.
Welcoming President Cường, Prime Minister Madbouly expressed his pleasure at receiving the Vietnamese head of state and described the visit as an important milestone in the history of Egypt–Vietnam relations. He noted that the visit opens a new chapter of cooperation, building on the long-standing bonds of friendship between the two countries.
The Egyptian Prime Minister commended the remarkable development achievements of Việt Nam, and voiced his strong belief that the Southeast Asian nation will achieve its goal of becoming a high-income, developed country by 2045. He also expressed admiration for the Vietnamese people and culture, underscoring the special historical ties between the two nations, nurtured by generations of leaders including President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, himself, and other senior Egyptian officials.
President Lương Cường conveyed sincere thanks to the Egyptian government and people for the warm and respectful welcome extended to the Vietnamese high-level delegation. He noted with appreciation the rapid transformation of Egypt, particularly in the development of new urban areas and administrative centres, which he said reflect Egypt’s strategic vision and ambition for national progress.
Reaffirming Vietnam’s commitment to its traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Egypt, President Cường expressed his hope to elevate bilateral ties to a new height — one that is more substantive, effective, and enduring.
To this end, the Vietnamese leader proposed:
- Increasing exchanges of delegations at all levels.
- Developing a modern legal framework for bilateral cooperation.
- Facilitating greater engagement in sectors of mutual interest, including logistics, infrastructure, industrial production, textiles, renewable energy, and emerging fields such as the green transition, digital transformation, and the Halal industry.
He also underlined the importance of enhanced cooperation at multilateral forums, as well as sharing experience in peacekeeping and conflict mediation, to contribute actively to regional and global peace and stability.
President Cường further requested that the Egyptian government support and create favourable conditions for the Vietnamese community living and working in Egypt, so that they may contribute effectively to the host country’s development and serve as a bridge for bilateral ties.
In response, Prime Minister Madbouly voiced strong support for Vietnam’s strategic development goals, noting Egypt’s own efforts in economic reform, private sector revitalisation, investment promotion, and climate change mitigation through green transition and digital innovation.
He welcomed the idea of launching negotiations for a Vietnam–Egypt Free Trade Agreement (FTA) based on equality, mutual benefit, and balanced interests. He also emphasised the importance of increasing two-way trade volume, in accordance with the consensus reached by Presidents El-Sisi and Cường during their bilateral talks.
To boost commercial and investment cooperation, the Egyptian Prime Minister proposed the establishment of a Vietnam–Arab Business Council, envisioned as a vital mechanism to connect Việt Nam with Middle Eastern, African, and Arab markets.
Prime Minister Madbouly reaffirmed Egypt’s readiness to welcome Vietnamese investors, pledging full support for their operations in the country. He also expressed openness to receiving Vietnamese students at prestigious institutions such as Al-Azhar University.
He highly praised Vietnam’s active role within the United Nations, and confirmed Egypt’s intention to send a delegation to the signing ceremony of the UN Convention against Cybercrime, scheduled to take place in Hà Nội this October.
On behalf of Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính, President Cường extended a formal invitation to Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly to pay an official visit to Vietnam. The Egyptian leader graciously accepted the invitation.
The meeting between the two leaders further solidified the strong political trust and mutual understanding between Vietnam and Egypt, setting the stage for expanded cooperation in line with the newly upgraded Comprehensive Partnership between the two nations.
