The Prime Minister made these remarks following a courtesy call by the new Chief Justice at his office on Wednesday, August 6.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Anwar stated that the meeting underscored the importance of reinforcing a judiciary rooted in independence and integrity, which he described as essential pillars for strengthening Malaysia’s legal and democratic frameworks.

“The discussion also focused on restoring and reinforcing public trust in the judiciary as a cornerstone of a just and equitable rule of law,” Anwar added, extending his congratulations to Wan Ahmad Farid on his appointment.

Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid, aged 62, was officially appointed as the 17th Chief Justice of Malaysia, succeeding Tun Tengku Maimun Tuan Mat, who retired on July 2.
