71st Chodsko Festival Opens in Domažlice with Rich Cultural Programme

71st Chodsko Festival

Domažlice, August 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: The 71st Chodsko Festival, one of the oldest ethnographic celebrations in Czechia, has begun in Domažlice, offering over 60 events scheduled through Sunday. The festival is closely linked to the traditional Vavřinec pilgrimage and showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Chod region.

Visitors can enjoy folk music, traditional Chod costumes, decorated pastries, the local dialect, and handmade ceramics. Highlights of this year’s programme include outdoor masses, a tribute to the late folk musician Antonín Konrády, and the 13th National Bagpipe Showcase.

Music performances will span a variety of genres, from traditional folk to rock and bluegrass. Admission to all events is free, and shuttle buses will operate from park-and-ride facilities and to the Vavřineček pilgrimage site.
