Türkiye Welcomes Landmark Peace Roadmap Between Azerbaijan and Armenia

Ankara, August 9, 2025 – The Europe Today: Türkiye on Friday welcomed progress toward a “lasting peace” between Azerbaijan and Armenia, following the signing of a trilateral peace roadmap in Washington with the United States.

In a statement, the Turkish Foreign Ministry hailed the “commitment recorded” in the US capital, emphasizing that the agreement came at a time “when international conflicts and crises are intensifying.”

“This step constitutes a highly significant development for the promotion of regional peace and stability,” the ministry said, while also commending the US Trump administration for its contributions to the process.

The statement noted that “a historic opportunity has emerged for the South Caucasus to attain peace and prosperity,” adding, “As Türkiye, we will continue to contribute to the efforts aimed at realizing this opportunity and support the dedicated endeavors of our brotherly Azerbaijan.”

The joint declaration was signed on Friday at the White House by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, and US President Donald Trump following a trilateral summit.
