Astana, August 10, 2025 – The Europe Today: President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extended his greetings to participants of the celebrations marking the 180th birth anniversary of Abai Qunanbaiuly, according to Akorda.
In his message, President Tokayev hailed Abai as “a world-class personality and a great poet who made an invaluable contribution to the development of culture and the renewal of our people’s national consciousness.” He noted that as the founder of modern Kazakh literature, Abai significantly broadened the nation’s worldview.
Recalling the poet’s guidance to young people to be educated, hardworking, and responsible citizens, Tokayev emphasized that Abai’s ideas continue to inspire the formation of new national qualities. “His life path is an example of love for the homeland and selfless service to society,” he said.
The President underlined that Abai’s rich legacy serves as a spiritual guide not only for the Kazakh people but for all of humanity. “His thoughts and commandments will never lose their relevance. That’s why it is very important to explore and popularize Abai’s works, understanding the profound meaning of his writings,” he stressed.
Tokayev further highlighted that the commemorative event, held on the sacred land that also gave the world such eminent figures as Shakarim Kudaibergen and Mukhtar Auezov, aims to promote this very mission. He added that the state places the highest importance on developing the region as a center of national culture.
