Azerbaijani Ambassador H.E. Khazar Farhadov Calls on President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad

Islamabad, August 13, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to further deepen its brotherly relations with Azerbaijan, founded on mutual trust, shared values, and common aspirations.

He expressed these views during a meeting with the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Khazar Farhadov, in Islamabad on Wednesday. The President described Azerbaijan as a key partner and emphasized Pakistan’s desire to expand bilateral cooperation, particularly in trade, economy, and regional connectivity.

Highlighting the importance of closer economic integration, President Zardari underscored that enhanced trade links, stronger investment partnerships, and improved connectivity would bring the two nations closer and contribute to shared prosperity.

Congratulating the Ambassador on the signing of the historic peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia, he asked him to convey his felicitations to President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan. He said the agreement would pave the way for lasting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region.

President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan’s principled stance on resolving disputes through dialogue and peaceful means, rooted in mutual understanding and respect.

Welcoming the operationalization of direct air links between the two countries, he described it as a development that has opened new opportunities for trade, tourism, and people-to-people contacts.

The President also expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for its consistent support for the just cause of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, particularly as a valued member of the OIC Contact Group.
