Ethiopian Delegation Arrives in Pakistan to Launch “Plant Fraternity” Initiative

Karachi, August 15, 2025 – The Europe Today: A high-level delegation comprising government officials and climate experts from Ethiopia arrived in Karachi on Friday to formally launch the “Plant Fraternity” initiative across various cities of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

Upon arrival at Jinnah International Airport, the delegation was warmly received by H.E. Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, Ambassador of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) to Pakistan, and H.E. Ibrahim Khalid Tawab, Honorary Consul in Karachi, along with officials from Ethiopian Airlines and Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The visiting delegation is scheduled to travel to Islamabad and Lahore to participate in a series of “Ethio-Pakistan Green Dialogues” and a mass plantation drive. The visit, coordinated by the Ethiopian Embassy in Islamabad, is part of Ethiopia’s efforts to promote environmental cooperation under Prime Minister H.E. Dr. Abiy Ahmed’s Green Legacy Initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Dr. Jemal Beker highlighted the significance of the visit, describing it as a clear reflection of the growing bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Pakistan. “The arrival of this delegation sends a powerful message to the world that Pakistan is not alone in its fight against climate change,” he stated.

Dr. Beker reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Pakistan, particularly in areas of environmental sustainability and climate action.
