Islamabad, August 16, 2025 – The Europe Today: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has reported severe devastation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past 48 hours due to heavy rains, flash floods, landslides, and lightning strikes, resulting in the loss of 321 lives.
According to NDMA, the deceased include 279 men, 15 women, and 13 children. Relief operations are underway in the affected areas with the active participation of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), Pakistan Army, and district administrations.
The situation is particularly grave in Buner district, where 184 people have lost their lives and 23 others sustained injuries — including 17 men, 4 women, and 2 children.
PDMA further reported that 74 houses have been damaged across the province, with 63 partially and 11 completely destroyed.
In Swat district, 20 fatalities have been confirmed, while 2,071 people have been successfully rescued.
Meteorological officials warn that the current spell of monsoon rains is expected to continue until August 21, raising concerns of further damage and displacement.
Authorities have urged residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious and cooperate with rescue teams as relief efforts intensify.
