Washington, August 21, 2025 — The Europe Today: Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Wednesday to discuss the current state and future prospects of Turkmen-American cooperation, along with a range of issues of mutual interest.
The discussions placed particular emphasis on strengthening political and diplomatic interaction, both on a bilateral basis and within the framework of joint activities in international organizations. The two sides underlined the importance of maintaining regular contacts between the foreign ministries of both countries, highlighting the effectiveness of the annual bilateral consultations between Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Department of State.
Economic partnership was identified as a priority area of cooperation, with focus on investment and technological collaboration. The parties acknowledged the key role of the Turkmen-American Business Council, which brings together leading U.S. companies, in advancing bilateral trade and economic ties.
Meredov and Rubio also discussed opportunities to expand cooperation in education, science, culture, and other socially significant sectors, underscoring their shared commitment to strengthening people-to-people ties.
Both officials agreed to continue regular contacts and consultations with the aim of further intensifying Turkmen-American relations.
