Bishkek, August 22, 2025 — The Europe Today: Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and Sadyr Zhaparov of Kyrgyzstan held official talks during Tokayev’s visit to Bishkek, the Akorda press service reported on Friday.
President Tokayev thanked his Kyrgyz counterpart for the invitation, expressing confidence that the visit would provide new momentum for the development of friendly relations between the two nations. Highlighting their shared history, traditions, and worldview, he emphasized the long-standing harmony between the Kazakh and Kyrgyz peoples in the Alatau foothills.
The Kazakh leader noted that political dialogue between the two countries has been firmly established at all levels, grounded in mutual respect and supported by multifaceted cooperation. He also commended President Zhaparov’s role in advancing bilateral ties.
In turn, President Zhaparov expressed appreciation for Tokayev’s visit and reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s readiness to further deepen cooperation.
The talks focused on strengthening collaboration in key areas including politics, transport and transit, energy, water management, agriculture, and digitalization. Both sides also underscored the importance of enhancing cultural and humanitarian relations, as well as exchanging views on regional and international issues.
As part of his official trip, President Tokayev also visited the Ata Beyit National Memorial Complex near Bishkek.
