Washington, August 22, 2025 — The Europe Today: The eleventh round of annual bilateral political consultations between Turkmenistan and the United States of America took place in Washington on Wednesday.
The Turkmen delegation was led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov, while the American side was headed by John Mark Pommersheim, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of State for South and Central Asian Affairs.
During the consultations, the two sides reviewed the current state and prospects of Turkmen-American relations and exchanged views on pressing international issues. Both parties reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral ties, particularly in the areas of security, trade and economic cooperation, and engagement within the regional diplomatic platform “C5+1.”
Discussions also focused on the implementation of joint projects with leading American companies, as well as opportunities to expand U.S. investment in Turkmenistan.
Concluding the meeting, both sides underlined that regular consultations remain an effective mechanism for advancing Turkmen-American cooperation.
