Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan Leaders Affirm Commitment to Regional Cooperation at Turkmenbashi Summit

Turkmenbashi, August 23, 2025 – The Europe Today: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan delivered a joint press statement in Turkmenbashi on Thursday following their high-level trilateral summit.

In his remarks, Chairman Berdimuhamedov underscored the historic significance of the meeting, highlighting strengthened cooperation in political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian fields. He emphasized the importance of joint efforts in energy and transport, including initiatives to revive the Great Silk Road by enhancing transport corridors between Europe and Asia. He also noted the commitment of the three countries to deepen humanitarian ties in areas such as education, science, healthcare, and culture.

President Mirziyoyev praised the constructive dialogue, stressing that the talks reflected a strong political will to deepen strategic partnerships and regional integration. He noted that special focus was placed on developing transit corridors through the ports of Turkmenbashi and Baku, energy cooperation, industrial partnerships, and joint investment projects. He also proposed initiatives to expand cultural exchanges and tourism cooperation, underlining that today’s agreements would be implemented through a joint roadmap.

President Aliyev hailed the summit as a historic step in fostering multilateral ties, emphasizing the fraternal relations among the three nations. He cited recent examples of Turkmenistan’s and Uzbekistan’s contributions to reconstruction efforts in Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region as symbols of solidarity. Aliyev also announced that state institutions had been instructed to develop a trilateral cooperation framework in transport, energy, logistics, and cultural relations.

The three leaders concluded by affirming that the summit marked the beginning of a new phase of regional partnership aimed at strengthening peace, stability, and prosperity across the Caspian and Central Asian regions.
